Thanks babah for giving me things that I need not things that I want.
Last weekend afi and beberapa orang from CURE were selected to join the flood relief mission. The President said that we were LUCKY people and indeed, I agree with him. I am LUCKY. We are LUCKY.
Seumur hidup afi tak pernah rasa macam mana susahnya banjir cos rumah kitorang tak pernah kena banjir. I thought it was somehow something fun bila nampak semorang naik bot bla bla tapi hello diri sendiri, it's something more than that. Fun tu adalah sikit sikit tapi trauma dan derita tu yang lebih.
Hari sabtu kitorang bertolak awal awal pagi and we got there at Ledang at about 12:45 pm. Lepas dah siap solat solat semua, representatives from IKRAM datang and tunjuk direction kampung yang kitorang akan tolong. Before that Cikgu yang macam muka pelakon melayu tu ada cerita serba sedikit pasal geografi johor. Macam biasa, asal masuk geografi je kepala macam eh pening eh pening. heheh. So I just listened to his speech bila dah masuk bab banjir. Satu yang afi ingat, Cikgu tu cakap waktu banjir semorang ditempatkan kat Bukit Kangkar sebab kawasan itu adalah tinggi, so that seems to be the most suitable placelah for shelter.
Masa mula mula sampai kat kampung tu, afi agak terkejut tengok keadaan rumah rumah yang ada. Sangat bersepah dan yang paling penting, BERLUMPUR. Takde kaler lain selain oren. Pokok yang hijau pon dah jadi kaler oren. WAU. Menarik. Angah mesti suka cos my angah is Athirah Oren. Weehu.
And so, kitorang berenam Fadhilah, Fitri, Kit, Afi, Najwa and Aina were assigned to a house owned by a single mother. Rumah dia sangat menyedihkan. Most of all the furnitures rosak teruk. Lantai rumah walaupun dah di water jetkan still berlumpur and most of all, pinggan mangkuk semua KOTOR and OREN! Kesian sangat. Makcik ni ada diabetes associated with hypertension, heart problem and also renal failure. Kesian yang amat. Waktu kitorang datang tuh I saw her leg macam dah bengkak bengkak because of edema. Haish. Kesian sangat sangat. So we all tanyalaa apa yang patut ditolong and that mak cik cakap "Nak.. makcik tak mintak kamu tolong benda lain, tolong cucikan pinggan mangkuk makcik ni pon dah cukup bagus..".
So bermulalah adegan basuh membasuh. Walaupun agak lenguh sebab mencangkung, tapi rasa puas hati yang amat cos memang BANYAK pinggan yang berjaya kitorang sental. Waktu duk sental pinggan tu semua, kami motivate diri sendiri dengan ayat "Kita berenam tapi makcik tu sorang, cuba bayangkan dia cuci semua ni sorang sorang. Fighting!! " Hahah.
Waktu sesi bercerita, afi faham makcik tu macam dah trauma dengan air. She even said that the water flowed like snake masa banjir tu and the flow buat bunyi bising and sangat menakutkan sampai makcik tu menggigil gigil ketakutan. I never thought that flood victims akan ada peluang dapat fobia or whatnot tapi ternyata pendapat afi tu salah. The mission was really an eye opener. The way she told us about the flood and how she saw the water stream washed out her things, I could say that she was so scare and what had happened to her and her family will never be forgotten.
But one thing that I kept on questioning myself was, where were her children?? Masa kitorang masuk rumah makcik tu I saw few graduation day pictures, and when I asked her about the pictures, suara dia macam berubah. That's a really silly thing to do I guess. *Sigh* Dalam otak duk fikir, kenapa anak anak makcik tu tak balik? If I were them I will never let my mother go through all this things alone. Makcik tu sakit, dengan keadaan kesihatan makcik tu its almost impossible that she can get up and jalankan hidup macam biasa sorang sorang. Kat rumah tu macam dah takde apa dah melainkan pinggan mangkuk. Alat elektrik, perabot semua dah rosak. Tempat tidur pon takde. Kesian sangat. Well maybe the children have their problems kan sebab tu tak dapat balik rumah *cuba fikir positif* and so, I just diverted myself daripada fikir yang bukan bukan lagi kepada terus entertained makcik tu.
Hari Ahad plak we all were assigned to clean up a surau kat Kampung Jawa. Funny thing was, I cannot helped myself from ternganga everytime I heard the pakcik talking. Dorang cakap bahasa Jawa! Tak fahamm. Tapi siyesly bahasa tu menarik. I want to learn it someday. And on the way balik, singgah kat air terjun gunung Ledang. Air sejuk sangat, menggoda iman betul tapi disebabkan masa ntuk mandi tu macam sekejap je so baik takyah mandi. Karang susah lak nak naik. But one thing that I really don't like about air terjun gunung ledang is, terlalu banyak bontot bontot yang tak ditutup. Tak cantik, tak menawan. Sana sini bontot bersepah sepah. EUW ok. EUW.
Overall, I really enjoyed myself throughout this mission and peeps, kalau korang berpeluang sertai mission macam ni PLEASE TAKE PART. There are lots of things that you can reflect upon yourself, trust me. And if I have the opportunity to go again, I will definitely go. Siapa nak ikut? JOM!
